About Me

I have known that I wanted to teach theatre since Senior Year of High School. Right now, I'm currently working towards a Bachelor's of Science in Speech & Theatre Education at Missouri State University.

As a teacher, I relish the opportunity to improve the lives of my students. I believe in a classroom that is a microcosm of the world we want to see. Student focused, inquiry-driven, egalitarian, and informative.

My Teaching Portfolio

Sample Work/Learning Artifacts

Lesson plans including written warm-up and creative drama.

As a teacher, I want to teach a wide range of lessons. I find that often, theatre is the best learning tool at our disposal. It helps bring the curriculum to where students are, and keeps them engaged throughout. If you want to see some examples of this, click on the button to the left. Materials include written warm-ups, and a Creative Drama exploration of Lord of The Flies.

At the very core of my being, I believe in the principle of Equity and Inclusion. No one should be excluded from my classroom simply because they're different. Although theatre is touted for its inclusivity, I find that inclusive spirit very rarely extends to those with special needs. I want to change that forever. I believe that the best way to reach students is through lessons that meet them where they're at. Part of that is through the integration of technology in critical pedagogy. Especially in the age of COVID, the integration of technology in the classroom is absolutely essential. Click on the button to the left to see how I go about integrating technology in my classes.

Although I did not come to Missouri State with any training in the world of competitive Speech & Debate, I cannot say the same today. Thanks to my incredible education, I have discovered a love for competitive speech, and a knack for teaching it. My focus in such events is simplifying the rules, which are often full of jargon.

Sonnets and Scansion and Shakespeare, OH MY!

Full disclosure: I knew from the moment I started my degree in Theater Education that I would not be able to only teach theater for the rest of my life. Fortunately, I LOVE English. And you know what links both subjects? Shakespeare. I think these lesson plans, both involving the Bard's work, show off my English chops best.
