An Inclusive Theater Classroom
Adaptation ToolKIT
Theatre should be accessible to everyone. One group of people who have historically been excluded from theatre is the disabled. Often, that is because it is difficult to make accommodations in the middle of class. This powerpoint identifies ten common disabilities, details how to recognize them, and specific accommodations I can make for my students.

Operation: Monologue
The pinnacle of solo work is in theatre is a single speech delivered by one actor, alone onstage, called a "Monologue". This lesson teaches students how to create a monologue, but also heavily focuses on adaptations that can be made for different students. Theatre isn't just about entertainment-- it's about recognizing emotion, and self-expression. This lesson details practical adaptations that can make the so-called 'hidden curriculum' explicit.
