CLASS: THEATRE ONE

Warm-ups

As a teacher, I want to encourage mindfulness in my classroom. I also want students to be able to focus on my class, and leave behind what's troubling them during the day so they can get the best education possible. This warm-up activity combines both of these principles. In my Theatre One class, I want each of my students to journal daily throughout the year. This powerpoint features a full year's worth of prompts for each daily journal students write throughout the year. Combining music, self-reflection, humor, and no small amount of theatre trivia, I can't wait to open my first class with these.

CLASS:  LANGUAGE ARTS 9

Creative Drama

Although theatre is my main passion, I also love the field of Language Arts and English. Especially because there are so few full-time theatre positions at the secondary level, it is important to recognize that I might be hired to jointly teach Theatre and English. However, I find that the two fields are not dissimilar, which can be seen here-- an exploration of the themes of Lord of The Flies using critical Theatre Pedagogy.
